CURTIS STONE CARE AND USAGE FOR STEELWORKS COOKWARE
The first time
Before you use Curtis Stone Steelworks cookware for the first time, ensure you remove all labels. Wash your cookware item in hot soapy water and dry thoroughly.
Do not attempt to season your cookware; this is not required with the Quantanium non-stick interior used on the Steelworks cookware.
During cooking
Curtis Stone Steelworks cookware is safe up to 450°F/230°C.
The use of protection is required in order to ensure safe handling of any cookware. Please use an oven glove or safety equipment as the handle and knob will become hot during use.
If you use an electric cook top, do not allow the element to extend beyond the base of the pan. If you use a gas cook top, choose a burner size that matches the diameter of the pot or pan base, the flame should never extend further than the base of the pot or pan. This prevents overheating of the handles and also allows for the cookware to keep an even temperature while cooking.
Use with nylon or wooden utensils to avoid possible scratching to the non-stick surface. Avoid using sharp instruments, such as electric mixers or sharp knives during cooking as they may scratch the non-stick surface.
Carefully wipe off spills which occur during cooking immediately for easier clean up later.
Always allow cookware to cool down after use and before cleaning. Immediately after use; remove cookware from the heat source and let it cool on a heat resistant surface or trivet
After cooking
Do not pour cold water into hot cookware as this may result in damage to the cookware including warping and oil or liquids to splatter; causing personal injury.
Always wash cookware thoroughly after use with mild dishwashing detergent and warm water to remove all traces of food or grease particles otherwise these will burn when the cookware is next heated, causing stains and scorching.
Do not use steel wool, coarse scouring pads or harsh abrasives to clean cookware. Do not use oven cleaners to clean cookware, as these are not designed for this purpose and will ruin the cookware.
To remove stubborn stains, dried or burnt on food, partially fill the pan with 3 parts water to one part detergent or vinegar and bring to the boil. Turn off the heat source and set aside for a period to cool and allow these stains or deposits to soften; then wash in mild dishwashing detergent and warm water using a non-abrasive mesh pad or soft brush.
Always dry your cookware immediately and pay particular attention to the rims, handle rivets and other small spaces where water might collect.
The Curtis Stone Steelworks cookware range is dishwasher safe, however we recommend hand washing to avoid discoloration and to prolong the life of the cookware.
Hints and Tips
Use low heat to warm or simmer food or to prepare delicate sauces.
Use medium heat for searing, sautéing, frying and stir-frying your food.
Use high heat for boiling and reducing liquids only.
Always pre-heat your pan before adding oil or butter. Pre-heat using a heat setting slightly higher than the temperature you intend to use when cooking.
The Curtis Stone Steelworks Cookware range is handcrafted so you might notice some slight variations in the finish of the cookware. This is a perfectly normal natural result of the manufacturing process and will not affect the cooking process.
A spotted white film may form on cookware which is caused by minerals in water or from starch in food. This can be removed by rubbing with a sponge dipped in lemon juice or vinegar. Blue or rainbow tints on stainless steel cookware are a symptom of overheating and may be removed by using a Stainless Steel Cookware Cleaner.
Handling Safety
Never allow cookware to boil dry. If it does switch off the heat and do not attempt to remove from the heat until it is completely cooled.
Be careful when using oil to fry foods, using a lid is recommend (except for deep-frying) to avoid the risk of burns caused by oil splattering.
For safety reasons, cookware should never be left unattended when cooking.
The use of protection is required in order to ensure safe handling of any cookware. Please use an oven glove or safety equipment as the handle and knob will become hot during use.
